Transportation
Highways: Interstate 64 crosses Greenbrier County from east to west, with eight exits in the county. Sixty miles east of the county line, or Virginia/West Virginia state line, I-64 intersects with I-81 (running north/south) near Lexington, VA. Thirty miles west of the county line I-64 intersects with I-77 (running north/south) just south of Beckley, West Virginia. US 60/Midland Trail Scenic Highway also traverses the county from east to west providing scenery to compensate for the extra time required. US 219, which runs from Canada to Princeton, WV, crosses Greenbrier County from north to south.
Greenbrier Valley Airport: Located six miles north of Lewisburg on US 219, the airport boasts the longest runway in West Virginia. US Airways and Delta serve Greenbrier County. A large number of private and corporate aircraft also use the airport to transport guests to The Greenbrier, The Homestead and the Snowshoe ski resort. There are also two aircraft charter and helicopter charter services. Automobile Rental: Hertz, Avis, Enterprise and National Car Rental have offices at Greenbrier Valley Airport. Bus Service: Greyhound Bus has limited service with a dropoff-only location at 840 N. Jefferson St. in Lewisburg. Mountain Transit Authority provides local bus service within Greenbrier and neighboring counties. Limousine Service: Greenbrier Valley Limousine provides service from the Greenbrier Valley Airport to The Greenbrier, The Homestead and Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort. They also provide limousines and minibuses for tours of the Greenbrier River Valley. Railroad: Amtrak makes stops in White Sulphur Springs and Alderson. |
